Day 66

Pre-Algebra: Chapter 6-4

Dividing Fractions

The multiplicative inverse of a fraction (even a whole number like 4 or 4/1) is just the flipping over of the fraction. The multiplicative inverse or reciprocal * the original fraction has a product of 1!

To divide 2 fractions, change the ÷ sign and replace it with the × sign AND flip the second fraction upside down. If you have a mixed number, make sure that you first convert it to an improper fraction.

Algebra: Chapter 9-3

Equations and Absolute Value

To solve an equation of the form | A | = b, solve the disjunction A = b OR A = −b. You will have 2 equations to solve with the right side of the second equation having the opposite sign of the first equation’s right side. REMEMBER by definition, the solution of | A | ≠ a NEGATIVE NUMBER! Here is a link to examples!
