(updated 10/9/11)
Mr. Esquer has lived in the mountains for 25 years; he lives in Running Springs with his wife, Sandy. He has been married for 31 years and was born in 1954 in East Los Angeles. His parents sent him to Catholic school for grades 1 through 12; it’s not something that was his choice! Obviously, his favorite food is Mexican food!!
His 56th year milestone occurred on November 24th of last year! He is pretty darn old and can sometimes use those “senior citizen” discounts!!! His initials are WDE, and the W stands for William, while the D stands for David.
Mr. E had a secret first life. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Southern California and graduated in 1976 and in 1978 with Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Aerospace Engineering.
He was a true rocket scientist and worked for a company called TRW. It was awesome work and he got to work on special computers on rockets that traveled 5,000 miles. After 17 years of that, he became restless and started his second career as a teacher. He taught first in the San Bernardino City Unified School District before he came up to RIM. At RIM, he first taught for 6 years at Grandview Elementary. He has taught 5th grade and 2nd grade for 9 years and is in his 9th year here at MPH teaching 7th and 8th grade math.
He has lots of hobbies, like fishing, camping, computers, traveling, wakeboarding and water and snow skiing. His family has a jet boat and a mobile home in Arizona in the town of Mohave Valley. It is right next to Bullhead City and just north of Needles, California. His favorite hobby, which he doesn’t do much of any more, is flying his own airplane. His pilot’s license lets him fly single-engine land planes. Someday, he and Doug would like to build an experimental airplane. His favorite experimental airplane is called a Van’s RV-7.
His son Doug is a commercial, multi-engine, instrument rated pilot. He graduated from Embry-Riddle University in Prescott, Arizona, but he also atttended the University of California, Santa Cruz for 2 years. He lives in Oakland, California. Daughter Rosie is a senior in college at California State University, Chico in their pre-vet program. She hopes to become a vet for small or large animals and worked as an intern at the Oakland Zoo this past summer. The elephant section was her favorite!
With his bright blue, Toyota FJ Cruiser, Mr. E likes to explore the mountains here in the San Bernardino’s.
Mr. E is a stickler in math, after all it and science are his favorite subjects. He likes students who do their homework, neatly and on time. His email address at home is dave@daveesquer.com, at school is dave_esquer@rimsd.k12.ca.us and the math website is http://www.daveesquer.com where all of the work that is done in class is available to print out. The weekly and monthly homework is also available there if students have to miss a class or two.
