Pre-Algebra: Chapter 4-8
Multiplying and Dividing Monomials
We have the 2 rules on pages 205 and 206 to use when operating on monomials:
- You can multiply powers that have the same base by adding their exponents
- You can divide powers that have the same base by subtracting their exponents
Just make sure that the bases are exactly the same and you’ll be fine! Click here for a link for more information!
Algebra: Chapter 7-4
Slope is defined as “m” and m = rise ÷ run or m= (y2 – y1) ÷ (x2 – x1). It doesn’t matter which way you calculate the slope as long as you are consistent in your subtraction of the coordinates. Don’t forget the “rise” is like bread rising – along the y axis and the “run” is like you running around the track for the mile run!
If you know the value of m, you can use the equation m= (y2 – y1) ÷ (x2 – x1) to solve for any of the ordered pair terms if you don’t know what the x or y value of one of the coordinate pairs is.
