Algebra: Chapter 9 Review
Today we went over the Chapter 9 Test Form A. All questions should be answered by now, be ready!
Math-8, Chapter 7-3, p 338
Writing 2-step equations
We are practicing more 2 step equations, these are on the CAHSEE exam.
Reviewing:
- Decide which side of the equal sign the variable should end up (be isolated to).
- Move all constants away from that side by adding or subtracting. The only thing left on the side with the variable should be the variable or the variable multiplied or divided by a constant. (e.g., `4z` or `x/2`).
- By multiplying or dividing, operate on the variable so that it only ends with an “invisible” 1 in front of it.
- If the variable is divided by a constant, like `y/4`, you need to multiply both sides by that same constant. In this example, we multiply both sides by 4.
- If the variable is multiplied by a constant, like `2x`, then we divide both sides by that constant (in this example, we divide BOTH sides by 2)
