Pre-Algebra: Chapter 13-4
Pythagorean Theorem
This only works in a RIGHT TRIANGLE! The legs of the triangle are next to the right angle. The side opposite the right angle is called the hypotenuse.
In a right triangle, the square of the length of the hypotenuse is equal to them sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs. Or:
`a^2+b^2=c^2`
`a^2=c^2−b^2`
`b^2=c^2−a^2`
`c=sqrt(a^2+b^2)`
