Mother’s Day

With Douglas, we flew from Bullhead up to the Grand Canyon for Mother’s Day on Saturday, May 9. Took the shuttle/taxi from GCN to the Rim. You pay a taxi fee (5.00) and a park entrance fee (6.00). Had lunch at the El Tovar Hotel. Lunch ends at 2:00 and we arrived at 1:45 p.m. Food is just OK, we split an Angus burger and Doug had a Club Sandwich on sourdough. It’s always amazing to see so many tourists from different countries. 2 men in a Bonanza shared our taxi. They were from Germany and were returning to Palo Alto that same afternoon. They had about 1/2 hour to see this natural treasure …

A little windy at the Canyon, waited for the winds to die down and left about 5:00 pm. A nice day for flying! We landed back at Bulhead about 7:30 p.m. and Douglas was back to Prescott by 8:45 p.m. For the rest of the evening, we went to the Riverside and saw the movie “Star Trek”!

I miss my mom today ….

CSU and Chico for breakfast!

We came up to visit Rosie at CSUChico. She is doing great, I am so proud of her! She is quite the expert in the dairy unit, getting up early for ‘da baby calves.

Cafe Coda for breakfast with Rosie! French press coffee an killer Eggs Benedict and Banana-Walnut pancakes. Yum-yum!

Morning Thunder Cafe, by Bidwell Park, is also fantastic for b-fast!

School is out May 22nd, the countdown has begun …

Easter Break is OVER!

Well, we celebrated Sandy’s 55th birthday last week. We went to the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, tried our luck, not good and ate great food! We were in room 5359, great view of the Strip, its on the west side of the hotel. The Terrace Point Cafe is good for breakfast. Zoozacrackers good for lunch, split the portions.

Off the Strip – Just Real Food (casual Italian, southwest of the strip, about 15 minutes away. It is just on the west side of the 15 freeway across from the South Pointe hotel)

  • 10670 Southern Highlands Parkway
  • 702-202-2448

Del Friscoe’s Steakhouse (obviously steaks, right around the corner from the Wynn)

  • 3925 Paradise Road
  • 702-796-0063

We didn’t try Casa Di Amore (Italian) on 2850 E. Tropicana Ave. 702-433-4967. They have free limo service from the strip I am told.

Traveled to see Douglas as well and stayed at the Prescott Resort, 1500 Highway 69, 86301. It was OK, not great. Food not so good here. A fun little casino called Bucky’s is located adjacent to it. The Resort is on the corner of Highways 69 (east-west) and 89 (north-south).

Texas Roadhouse in the Gateway Mall is OK for dinner, like the one in Victorville and Chico. Its address is 3310 Gateway Blvd. The Mexican place in the same mall is not so good!

To get to Douglas’ place, just travel north on 89 to E. RosserĀ  Ave. and turn left. Stay on Rosser until right before Flora, turn left, then right on Flora.

It takes about 3 hours to get from Doug’s place to the River House, 195 miles per the Acura GPS. There is an El Palacio in Kingman for a lunch break.

Tutor Tuesday

Today Douglas is leaving for Prescott so I won’t do tutoring so that we can have breakfast together!
All the holiday leftovers are slowly disappearing as well.
Rosie and Sandy are having a great time in Tahoe with lots of snow …

November 26

The day before Thanksgiving and Doug and Rosie are home! Tomorrow we to Auntie Anna’s for the stuffing-fest. It is good to have everyone at home.

My birthday was on Monday and I do miss the phone call from Mom on my birthday … but I know that she is watching down on all of us from heaven.
